One day God came down from Heaven and appeared before a shepherd tending his flock. The shepherd was of course quite frightened, and trembled before the mightiness of God, and fell down upon his knees and wept.
“Oh shepherd,” said God. “Why dost thou weep?”
“For I have never seen a sight so beautiful, my Lord.”
“What? Me? That’s nothing. Would you like to hear the sound of pure joy?”
“The sound of pure joy, my Lord?”
“Yes, the sound of pure joy.”
The shepherd composed himself, and stood, and bowed low before God, as low as an American president visiting Japan. “Yes, my Lord. Of course.”
The Lord smiled upon his devoted shepherd, and then turned on the stereo and played “You! Me! Dancing!” by Los Campesinos!
